About the Licensing Process

QUALIFICATIONS

You must be:

At least 18 years of age
A legal resident of the State of Texas (U.S. citizenship is not required)
Of good moral character

INSTRUCTIONS FOR BEGINNING THE NOTARY PUBLIC LICENSING PROCESS

Fill out the Texas notary questionnaire and online application, then submit your application to Atkinson Bros. Agency along with payment. Both forms are available online.

Your Notary Licensing Includes:
Texas State Statutory 4-Year Filing Fee	$21.00
Notary Bond (required by Texas Law) $10,000 limit, 4-Year Term Underwritten by RLI Surety of Peoria, IL, or Western Surety Company of Sioux Falls, SD	$50.00
Individual Professional Liability Insurance (Recommended but not mandated by the Texas Secretary of State) No deductible! 4-year aggregate $35,000 coverage Fully portable, even if your employer carries group professional liability insurance	$60.00
Notary Supplies Package Self-inking stamp/seal (required by Texas law) Full-sized notary journal (American Society of Notaries) Texas Notary Public Handbook	$28.50
INDIVIDUAL NOTARY PACKAGE TOTAL	$159.50
Employer/Group Notary Professional Liability Insurance For additional information or to order group coverage please call Atkinson Bros. Agency at (800) 929-6093 or (713) 664-4021. No deductible $35,000 annual coverage per notary AND employer $17,500 annual legal defense coverage per notary AND employer ALL notaries employed by the named insured are covered 24 hours a day ALL notaries hired or appointed are AUTOMATICALLY INSURED without a requirement to report until renewal. Underwritten by RLI Insurance Company, Peoria, IL.	$66.00/year (up to three notaries) $22.00/year each additional notary

After we receive your completed and signed application with payment, we will complete the notary bond and send your paperwork directly to the Texas Secretary of State. When the State issues your Notary Public Commission, you will receive all notary supplies and information.

There is no additional fee for our services.
Notary Public Professional Liability Insurance is available and is recommended but not mandated by the Texas Secretary of State.
Prices include Texas State sales tax.
If you do not become a notary, all moneys will be refunded upon request.
