Atkinson Bros. Agency offers
licensing registration, professional liability bonding,
and professional supplies for new and existing notaries in the State of
Illinois.
QUALIFICATIONS
FOR ILLINOIS NOTARIES PUBLIC
You must be:
At least 18 years of age
A citizen of the United
States or an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence
A resident of the State of Illinois for at least 30
days
Able to read and write the English language
Of good moral character
Must have not been convicted of a felony
Must have not had a notary commission revoked during the
past 10 years
Effective
June 13, 2000, under certain conditions, residents of states bordering Illinois may be commissions as Illinois Notary Publics.
Illinois residents are appointed for a four year term. Out of state residents are appointed a one year term.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR BEGINNING THE NOTARY
PUBLIC LICENSING PROCESS
Fill out the Illinois notary questionnaire and submit to
Atkinson Bros. Agency by mail or fax. You may also complete the questionnaire
online by completing the online registration form
or the online renewal form.
After your completed
application is
submitted to the state licensing office, you will
receive notification from the county clerk that your commission certificate
is available to pick up. At that time, you have the option to pick up your
commission in person (a $5.00 state issuance fee applies), or to mail in the
signature card provided by the county clerk (a $10.00 mail-in issuance fee
applies). After you receive your Illinois Notary Public Commission
certificate, fax a copy to us at 1-800-929-6094 to receive your notary
supplies.

online form asks you to select an Illinois Notary Package including your
choice of Professional Liability Protection as shown in the following chart.
